About the role

We're looking for an Technical Lead who builds alongside their team - not one who manages from a distance. You'll own technical direction for your squad, shape architecture decisions, and help less experienced engineers grow, all while staying close to the code.

This is a leadership role, but the best person for it still thinks like a builder. You'll work across Nimble client projects spanning a wide range of industries and complexity, and be expected to operate with full ownership from discovery through delivery.

What you'll do

  • Lead a squad of engineers across one or more client projects, setting the technical direction and maintaining quality standards

  • Define front-end and back-end architecture, make technology decisions, and own the outcome

  • Work closely with the Product Owner to keep delivery on track and contribute to technical discussions with clients when needed

  • Write and review code - this is a hands-on role; you're expected to contribute, not just direct

  • Use AI tools as a core part of how you work and help your team do the same

  • Mentor and grow engineers in your squad through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing

  • Set and execute technical strategy aligned with project and business objectives

  • Contribute to internal processes and initiatives - our handbook has been written by the whole team

What We Are Looking For

  • Technical

    • Solid professional web development experience with a strong background in software architecture - we care more about what you've built and led than how many years you've been doing it

    • Deep experience with scaling web platforms, handling high traffic, and maintaining uptime

    • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern DevOps practices

    • Comfortable across the stack - frontend and backend - and able to adapt to the language and framework the project needs

    • Experience with AI coding tools and a clear point of view on how to integrate them into engineering workflows

    Leadership

    • Proven track record of leading engineering teams and growing engineers in a high-growth or consultancy environment

    • Experience setting and executing technical strategy aligned with business objectives

    • Strong decision-making with a bias for action - you commit, you move, you course-correct

    Business awareness

    • Prior experience in a software consultancy or product-led company

    • Ability to communicate clearly across technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients
