The Opportunity
As CTO, you will be responsible for shaping the technical vision and strategy for our Restaurant Operations Management SaaS solution, driving innovation, and ensuring our platform remains robust, scalable, and secure. You will lead and grow the engineering team, cultivate a culture of high performance, and work closely with the CEO and leadership team to align technology initiatives with business goals.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You should bring strong technical expertise — ideally with Ruby on Rails — and proven experience in scaling SaaS platforms and engineering teams.
What You Will Do
Technology Vision & Strategy: Define and execute the long-term technology strategy to support the company’s growth and product roadmap.
Platform Leadership: Oversee architecture, infrastructure, and DevOps to ensure high availability, scalability, and security of our SaaS solution.
Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing engineering team, nurturing a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Product Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, and Go-to-Market teams to deliver features that delight customers and drive business results.
Process & Best Practices: Implement modern engineering practices (CI/CD, automated testing, observability, etc.) to maximise productivity and quality.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as a key technology advisor to the CEO and leadership team, communicating risks, opportunities, and trade-offs clearly.
Innovation & Experimentation: Stay on top of industry trends, tools, and frameworks to keep our tech stack competitive and future-proof.
Requirements
Technical Expertise
Strong background in Ruby on Rails development and architecture.
Deep experience with scaling SaaS platforms, handling high traffic, and ensuring uptime.
Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and modern DevOps practices.
Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures.
Leadership & Strategy
12+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 4+ years in a senior leadership role (CTO, VP Engineering, or similar).
Proven track record of growing and managing engineering teams in a high-growth environment.
Experience setting and executing a technical strategy aligned with business objectives.
Business & Product Awareness
Familiarity with B2B SaaS metrics (ARR, churn, CAC, etc.) and how technology impacts them.
Prior experience in a software consultancy or product-led company.
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities with a bias for action.
